Let’s Celebrate World Children’s Day !

ISS and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

20 November is an important date, as it is the date, in 1959, when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.

It is also the date, in 1989, when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child and in 2009, when the UN General Assembly adopted the Guidelines on Alternative Care.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child underpins the work of ISS. ISS actively promotes and protects the rights of children. Inherent to this approach, ISS is prioritising the best interests of the child by notably using a participative approach.

So today, together with our worldwide partners, we celebrate #worldchildrensday, offering each of us an inspirational entry-point to #advocate, #promote and #celebrate #childrensrights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for #children.
